Explaining Bail Bonds Fees

The money a bail bonds company gets is a service fee for putting up the full bail amount on your behalf. So if you have a $100,000 bail bond, you will pay the bondsman $10,000 and the bondsman puts up the full $100,000 to the court for you.

The bail bonds company is taking a big risk, because if you do not show up for court, the bondsman will not get a refund for their $100,000.

What Happens If You Fail To Appear For A Bail Bond?

What happens if you sign for a bond and run? You signed a bail bond document stating that you are responsible for appearing in court at your appointed time. If you do not show up in court that means that the bail bond company is responsible for the full amount, meaning they will lose what they put down on your behalf unless you are found.

If he had a court date and it hasn’t arrived yet, so he went back to prison before the court date, then the prison should make sure he shows for the next court date. The bond agreement should only be broken if he actually misses that court date. However, all bonds are not the same and not all agreements are written the same since each company makes its own agreements, so you should ask for a copy of the agreement and read it over.
